How browsers are the de-facto window to the World Wide Web?

This is a guest post I wrote for the news website Alootechie. It is about the evolution of web based applications and how they are slowly but surely replacing desktop applications. The post delves into the adoption pattern of web applications in India and how webapps offer a way to circumvent some of the typical problems that India begets.

In a sense, browsers are the de-facto window to the world wide web. Apart from the operating system, they are now the single most important software on a computer for a large number of users (for other users, this place would be occupied by MSOffice).

Head over to the article. And let me know where you agree or disagree with me.
