BlogJams… track a particular channel of the blogosphere with this web based blog reader

BlogsJam is a web based blog reader that you should check out. It is simple, fast and offers new functionality that is really useful. BlogsJam collects the most popular Indian blogs, organises them into channels and publishes channel-wise feeds. The blogs to be included in a channel are decided by BlogsJam and you can write to them to include a new one. Check out the screenshot below for the India technology blogs channel …

So what exactly is the problem that BlogsJam solves? It addresses the fact that most people have specific interests- someone may like technology news/blogs, somebody else might like sports, while some may rave about music, and so on. People read their favorite blogs, subscribe to them by RSS, but more often than not, the pressure of our daily working lives makes sure that we loose track of what’s happening with many of the good blogs in our area of interest. BlogsJam helps you keep all your favorite blogs in a particular channel firmly on your radars.

How is this different from a RSS reader? It works like a RSS reader, with the difference that you can’t select your own feeds like in a reader (non customized- thats a disadvantage); however there are two advantages that BlogsJam has over traditional RSS readers. First, there is an easy, customizable widget for syndicating content from your preferred channel and providing an updated feed on your blog or website. So you could directly read your favorite blogs straight from wherever the widget is embedded (most likely- your own blog), without having to open your RSS reader. Secondly there is a customizable Google search for all the blogs in a particular channel- this will allow you to do a quick search on a particular topic, if needed.

I really liked the idea of BlogsJam for its sheer simplicity; it has an unpretentious design & layout, works well and introduces new functionality.

Would like to add that we would certainly entertain requests for customized feeds. i.e. If you have a need for a custom private channel with you own choice of blogs, pl. email ashish @ citipals dot com.

    Thx – Manish ( @ blogsJam )

ps : Amit, Thank you for the review.
