IndiBlogger is a blogging network for Indian blogs (actually for bloggers of Indian origin only, as the site says) and it has an exquisitely designed website. It actually works like a blogging directory, where you can list your blog (by specifying its title, URL, tags etc) for other users to discover. Blogs can be searched by tags or by sorting them by city, recency or title. IndiBlogger does not have its own blogging platform for others to publish; it simply aggregates blogs that are hosted elsewhere. It is the effort of these three guys from Bangalore and if you are wondering how they plan to make money out of this venture, well – they actually don’t. This is a non-profit initiative and the trio answers the obvious “then, why” with a confident “why not?“. I like that attitude!
Notwithstanding its non commercial (and hence, some would say non-serious) intent, there’s a bunch of things out there worth noticing. They have this REALLY cool idea about blogs badges, which denote blogs belonging to a particular genre (coder, chef, writer, gamer, biker etc) and the badges are real eye-candy stuff (my fav badge, the “society for prevention of cruelty to blogs” is embedded below). They have a Google custom search for all the Indian blogs listed on their site. Not to forget a WordPress “Indiblogger” theme. I only wish they could have thought of a more creative name for their network to match its nice design.

Hi Amit, thank you very much for the great review and feedback. Glad you likes the badges. We’ve got many more features under development that we think would be useful to the blogging community – will keep you posted on that.
I had an immediate fondness for the look of their website the first time I saw it, very serene design. And you are absolutely right, their badges are super cool 🙂
This directory is one of the best. Thanks on providing the information.

I really liked the directory. I have registered my blog on it. I did not know how to upload a badge on my blog – but loved the idea. Wish I were techno friendly.
