BarCampKerala today…second tier tech centers take to the event

barcamp-kerala-poster.jpg BarCampKerala is happening today at the IT Technopark in Trivandrum. Check out the unfolding action on the wiki…there’s a solid bunch of sessions that are laid out for the day. Wish I could have made it for the event…nothing like mixing around with a bunch of bright, effervescent minds. Maybe next time….Hats off to the organisers for putting the event together. BTW, check out the cool poster that they have designed for the event. It gives so much of a local character to the ocassion. We’ve done that as well for the Delhi BarCamps, messing around with the logo, to give it a Delhi flavour.

Incidentally, the second half of 2007 has seen the Barcamp phenomenon spread beyond the top tier tech centres (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai) to second tier cities. Ahmedabad had one recently at the IIM campus (BarcampAhmedabad). In early Nov, IIT Kharagpur orgainsed East India’s first BarCamp (Barcamp_IIT Kharagpur_web 2(point)0) on their premises and this was in fact focused on Web 2.0. There might be other cities as well that I have missed out.

Thanks for pointing the typo…have corrected that since.
Did you guys shoot any videos for the event. If so, put it on youtube and send me the link…I’ll embed it in the blog post itself.

I attended my first barcamp at IIT Mumbai a couple of months back. Loved it. Good to connect with folks that are in similar shoes. The “unorganized” format suits very well for such an event. I saw a few corporates pitching (Sun, Nokia) – not sure whats up with that.
