MapmyIndia has added a killer feature called ‘Embed Map’, that allows you to add a detailed and interactive map snippet, to your blog or website. You can also zoom/pan in or out. It works pretty much like the embeddable media players that are ubiquitous on the web/blogosphere. All you need to do is to copy the code snippet from the MapmyIndia site and paste it into your website’s html code or simply insert into your blog post. As with their maps, this service is free.
I tried it out myself and it took me less than 60 seconds to insert the map for India Gate (in Delhi) into this blog post. Check it out below. The ability to pan/zoom the map is the icing on the cake. I think this feature (by itself) will add TREMENDOUSLY to the viral propogation of MMI’s mapping product. Embeddable players work like high impact advertisements, delivering greater reach and depth for online web products.
For a detailed review of MMI, check out this earlier post. The only thing I wish from MMI is greater granularity and detailing in their maps, specially for the metropolitan cities. I wish they could get to the level of detailing that Eicher maps provide for the main Indian cities.
wow… pretty cool huh.. This is indeed a rocking feature. I am going to add this stuff on my blog and will then sen in my users experiences soon. I have a feeling that google will face stiff competition from these chap when they plan to launch google maps for Indian cities.
awesome viral marketing tool

Its very difficult for any team to capture each and every nook and corner of the city. So, another killing feature can be to allow people mark places not available in the map, and let that information be publicly available for other users.
Mapmyindia rocks. I’m now a regular user of this site, whenever I hit the roads. I think they do have an e-places thingy that lets you mark on the map. I’m hoping they get very detailed maps of the cities as Amit says.
Is places marked by other shared or incorporated in mapmyindia database
I have used google maps for quite some time while i was in US and had always wished that someone should Map My India.
Heartfelt thanks to the team of mapmyindia for turing this dream in to reality.
Kudos!
